Making renewable energy quieter

Wind turbines have become familiar elements of our landscapes, and the shift towards renewable energy is likely to increase their presence in our neighbourhoods. Their acceptance by the public depends on multiple factors. One of them is the noise they produce and, specifically, their infrasound signature. This white paper gives a brief overview of key acoustic and noise perception concepts, presents the mechanisms by which wind turbines generate sound, discusses the effects of noise on the community and reviews some noise abatement strategies. The role of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) technologies in the design of low noise wind turbines is highlighted.

Download the whitepaper to delve into wind turbine noise and how it can be reduced to ensure a better life for the community.
