What does net-zero mean?

Achieving net-zero means reducing greenhouse gas emissions as close to zero as possible, with any remaining residual emissions balanced through credible carbon removals. This requires cutting emissions across operations and the value chain while scaling the technologies and solutions needed for a low-carbon future.

The 2015 Paris Agreement established the global ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C, requiring global emissions to reach net-zero around mid-century.
