Extended functionality for meshes and point clouds, added form plots for plane, sphere & cone and PTB certification for cylindrical gear algorithms.
Product enquiry
QUINDOS 2024.2 is the latest release of Hexagon’s leading metrology software for special geometries. New features include extended functionality for the inspection of meshes and point clouds, new form plots for geometries plane, sphere & cone plus new PTB certification for cylindrical gear algorithms. All this and much more in QUINDOS 2024.2
Used for powertrains in aerospace, energy, automotive, and engineering industries. QUINDOS’ structured programming tools enable quality professionals to build highly accurate inspection routines on a range of CMMs.
New mesh & point cloud inspection features
3D inspection of meshes now includes surface comparison with colour mapping, supporting the inspection of components based on captured mesh and point cloud data.
The 3D inspection of meshes is supplemented by 3D best fit and graphical evaluation with colour mapping technology. New qualitative reports visualise the deviations from the nominal design.
Additional support has also been included for mesh alignment. Users can now perform a best fit to a reference CAD model or a reference CAD coordinate system.
A new command for comparison of meshes supports the direct nominal/actual comparison without usage of measurement commands.
Finally, a new report for meshes rounds off the Mesh & Point Cloud Inspection option with a new graphical evaluation.
Plus many more features to make Mesh and Point Cloud inspection in QUINDOS more powerful and efficient. See the 2024.2 release notes for full details.
New form plots for plane, sphere & cone geometries
Includes extension of the plot portfolio for form evaluation and a handy visual deviation display with colour map.
This new feature enables essential parameters to be captured immediately with the use of predefined or custom visualisation profiles. Tabular listings can also be added to the report to extend the depth of information available in the report.
The new feature complements the traditional form plots, delivering one click colour mapping capability.
QUINDOS Cylindrical Gear algorithms - PTB certified
QUNDOS is one of the first metrology software packages to receive the new PTB certification
The new certification is for cylindrical involute gear evaluation algorithms according to current standards and guidelines (ISO 1328-1:2013, VDI/VDE 2612 Part 1 (2018), and VDI/VDE 2613 (2003)).
The new certification confirms that the deviations of QUINDOS Gear algorithms compared to the reference data of the PTB are below the maximum permissible deviation of 0.001 µm for all analysed quality characteristics.
QUINDOS 2024.2 offers other new features and improvements, including:
QUINDOS Basic
- A new command has been integrated for the ellipse geometry element and now supports the generation of nominal points without a 3D CAD model.
- The default for the displayed nominal and actual points has been increased to 50,000 for EDIT commands.
- CAD models can now optionally be loaded with extended functions: The CadLoadPart command has been extended to include direct loading of the integrated PMIs and their visualisation and guarantees the user a faster workflow. The binary 3D CAD model can now optionally be saved in the directory of the original file instead of in the location predefined by QUINDOS. This gives the user more flexibility.
QUINDOS Inspection with PMIs Module
- The context menu for the review of PMIs has been extended with helpful features:
- Selected PMIs from the list can now be activated more effectively in the CAD view with a single click and enables a more optimized check.
- PMIs that are not required or relevant for the measurement program can already be removed with one click in the review phase.
- Edit shape link function now supports adding/removing multiple layers in one step. This creates more manageability in the review workflow.
QUINDOS Straight Bevel
- The tolerance classes have been integrated in accordance with the new standard DIN 3965:2023-04 (Tolerances for bevel gear teeth).
- The nominal tolerance for a given tolerance class is calculated for fp, Fp, fu, and Fr on the pitch plot. The plot returns the actual tolerance class based on the actual deviation

Operating System
This version of QUINDOS is supported on the following operating system
- Windows® 10 Pro (64 Bit), at least Version 22H2, recommended version is 22H2
- Windows® 11 Pro, at least Version 22H2
The Windows 10 version > 1803 is recommended to avoid QUINDOS license problems.
Microsoft .NET Framework
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 for Windows is required.
The QUINDOS installer will install it for you.
HardwarePC Requirements
- CPU: Intel® Xeon® W-2445 Processor
(26.25 MB Cache, 3.1 GHz to 4.6 GHz Turbo)** - Graphics card:NVIDIA® RTXTM A4000
- RAM: 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) incl. ECC memory */**
* No RAM as single modules. Mainboard has to support at least dual channel to support read/write simultaneously on 2 or more RAM modules.
** ECC: Error Correction Code.Note that 32 GB are sufficient for standard QUINDOS applications. 64 GB are required
for the QUINDOS Mesh & Point Cloud Inspection option. Performance when working with large CAD models is also improved with more memory.
The minimum graphics card requirement is an NVIDIA Quadro® RTX 4000 which is the more cost-effective option.
The following NVIDIA graphics cards can be used for the mentioned software if the minimum requirements not available. The cards are ranked according to their technical specifications (highest first).
