Hexagon releases Luciad 2025, featuring enhanced real-time visuals and new capabilities for defense and intelligence agencies
18 June 2025
LAS VEGAS, 18 JUNE 2025 - Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division today announced the release of Luciad 2025.0, a significant update to its platform for building advanced location intelligence and real-time situational awareness applications. Luciad 2025.0 delivers improved visualization and mapping capabilities and greater control over defense and intelligence data.
Users and developers now have more flexibility for handling National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) data, the mandated standard for packaging and sharing digital imagery and associated intelligence data among U.S. defense and intelligence organizations. LuciadFusion and LuciadLightspeed upgrades enable non-georeferenced and georeferenced views, enhancing NITF data interpretation and the handling of images and vector overlays, with LuciadFusion now allowing browser-based viewing. These improvements provide users with greater control and efficiency when working with NITF data for intelligence and defense applications where both precise inspection of non-georeferenced content and high-performance imagery handling are critical.
LuciadCPillar has been updated with a new view-based, line-of-sight capability. This powerful, real-time visual aid translates complex terrain data into immediately actionable intelligence regarding visibility, significantly improving operational effectiveness and safety.
LuciadRIA and LuciadLightspeed can now connect to Microsoft Azure Maps, allowing Bing Maps users to leverage a modern and actively supported mapping platform while maintaining and even enhancing current workflows without disruption.
"The latest upgrades to the Luciad portfolio underscore our dedication to innovation by delivering enhanced visualization, expanded standards support and improved performance,” said Mladen Stojic, president of geospatial for Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division. “These updates not only strengthen our users' ability to work with critical geospatial data but also ensure seamless integration with evolving technologies like Microsoft Azure Maps. We're excited to continue enabling our customers to unlock the full potential of their geospatial intelligence."
Luciad 2025.0 will be available at the end of June 2025.
