Hexagon’s ICS/OT cybersecurity solution recognized for strengths in asset visibility, vulnerability management and backup and recovery

31 October 2024

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Hexagon’s Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division is pleased to announce significant recognition and momentum for its Industrial Control System/Operational Technology (ICS/OT) cybersecurity portfolio, reinforcing its leadership in the sector. Most recently, The Forrester Wave™: Operational Technology Security Solutions, Q2 2024 report recognized Hexagon PAS Cyber Integrity® as an OT Security “Contender.” In addition, Hexagon was named as an Innovator in OT Visibility & Threat Detection by Westland Advisory, a U.K.-based consultancy firm specializing in security market, in its latest OT Visibility & Threat Management Navigator, part of its Industrial Cybersecurity Industry Analysis 2023 report.

According to the Forrester report, “Hexagon takes a unique approach by obtaining a backup of industrial control devices and other systems, then creating a model to serve as the basis for analysis and detection. It provides strong configuration management capabilities by comparing versions to detect asset changes and anomalies and uses configuration information to discover vulnerabilities that are prioritized based on contextual information.”

“We believe our recent recognition by Forrester reflects our continuous innovation and determination,” said Nick Cappi, vice president of OT Cybersecurity at Hexagon’s Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division. "Our commitment involves providing customers with advanced cybersecurity solutions to safeguard their critical infrastructure. This achievement underscores our dedication to excellence and our unique approach to industrial cybersecurity.”

Earlier in Q2 2024, Hexagon announced a technical partnership with Dragos, a global leader in ICS/OT cybersecurity and threat intelligence. Together, the companies are aiming to revolutionize ICS/OT cybersecurity at industrial facilities. The transformative partnership focuses on integrating the complementary cybersecurity capabilities of Hexagon’s PAS Cyber Integrity and the Dragos Platform to provide customers with enhanced inventory data, comprehensive configuration management and superior intrusion detection and threat management to protect businesses operating in multiple critical infrastructure sectors.

Hexagon and Dragos have integrated their distinct skills and competencies to address the specific difficulties faced by owner operators. Their collective vision is to augment safety, efficiency and productivity, aiming to transform how the cybersecurity industry safeguards industrial infrastructure and valuable assets.

An on-demand webinar, “Comprehensive Asset Visibility & Inventory for OT Environments,” is now available. Originally presented at Hexagon LIVE in Dallas, the session evaluates the integration and mutual benefits of the PAS Cyber Integrity solution and the Dragos Platform, giving viewers an in-depth overview of how these complementary technologies work synergistically to provide comprehensive visibility and detection across industrial control systems and operational technology environments.

Westlands Advisory, a U.K.-based consultancy firm specializing in security market issues, cited Hexagon in its Industrial Cybersecurity Industry Analysis 2023 report. The analysis is based on previous work, analysis of secondary information sources (company websites, presentations, government websites, regulation, economic databases, research papers) and interviews with vendors and security services.

According to Westlands Advisory, “Hexagon’s key strengths lie in asset visibility, vulnerability management, risk management, and backup & recovery. The latest release, PAS Cyber Integrity 7.3, includes a risk management module that prioritizes risk and remediates vulnerabilities based on the criticality of assets. Hexagon’s solutions are often used alongside other asset visibility and threat detection vendors, providing supplementary information to enrich asset data. Additionally, Hexagon’s unique recovery and backup solution enables quick restoration of operations in case of cyber or operational incidents, supporting OT/ICS incident forensics and investigation. The company’s deep knowledge of plant assets and strong partnerships with major industrial OEMs further enhance its position in the market.”

Hexagon is a Gold Sponsor and will present at the 19th annual API Cybersecurity Conference for the Oil and Natural Gas Industry, Nov. 12-13, 2024, at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott, The Woodlands, Texas. Hexagon’s Syed Belal, Global Director of Cybersecurity Portfolio Strategy & Enablement, is slated to address attendees on the topic of “Digital Twins in ICS/OT Cybersecurity: Yay or Nay?
