Denmark’s Digital Orthophoto (DDO®)

With DDO 2022, Hexagon is mapping Denmark from the air, producing detailed visualisation of buildings, infrastructure and vegetation in the summer of 2022. In doing so, Hexagon is adding more valuable data to the documentation of Denmark’s development, benefitting municipal administration and planning. DDO 2022 is captured at 15-centimetre resolution and is resampled by default to 12.5 cm resolution.

Detail

The DDO program provides both an overview of large areas as well as detailed information. The high resolution of the imagery allows you to identify even the smallest details when you zoom in on a place, while also providing a quick overview.

Quality

DDO is captured while trees, shrubbery and grass are in full bloom and field crops are in growth in most places. Providing clear images of landscapes and urban centres in bright colours, the DDO is ideal for visualisation.

Vegetation

The DDO provides an overview of the vegetation while allowing you to identify the prevalence and distribution of various plant species. The orthoimages are offered in true-colour (RGB) and/or colour-infrared (CIR). CIR images are well-suited as a basis for classifying the distribution between pervious and impervious areas.

Background

The DDO program has published national orthophotos since 1995, providing unique documentation of the development of Denmark’s landscapes, urban centres and infrastructure over the last 27 years. In 2020, Hexagon acquired the rights to the DDO series.
