Objective:
You will learn the basics for using MSC Nastran and Patran as a pre- and post-processor. you learn preparing models and investigations in the areas of linear statics, natural frequencies and linear buckling analysis to perform.
Content:
- Brief introduction to the basics of FEA
- Introduction to the graphical user interface (GUI) by Patran
- Data flow between Patran and MSC Nastran
- Preparation of the geometry and FE model in Patran and application of various cross-linking techniques
- Specification of elements and their properties
- Definition of linear material properties and definition of loads and boundary conditions
- Structure of the data structure in MSC Nastran
- Checking the quality of the FE model
- Setting the solution parameters and starting the Nastran invoice using Patran
- Workshops for linear statics (SOL101), Natural frequency analysis (SOL103) and linear buckling analysis (SOL105)
- Extended introduction to linear statics included contact definition
- Visualization of the results with Patran
Prerequisites:
None, but basic knowledge of strength calculation is an advantage.
