Analyze linear structures with MSC Nastran and Patran

NAS120

Objective:

You will learn the basics for using MSC Nastran and Patran as a pre- and post-processor. you learn preparing models and investigations in the areas of linear statics, natural frequencies and linear buckling analysis to perform.

Content:

  • Brief introduction to the basics of FEA
  • Introduction to the graphical user interface (GUI) by Patran
  • Data flow between Patran and MSC Nastran
  • Preparation of the geometry and FE model in Patran and application of various cross-linking techniques
  • Specification of elements and their properties
  • Definition of linear material properties and definition of loads and boundary conditions
  • Structure of the data structure in MSC Nastran
  • Checking the quality of the FE model
  • Setting the solution parameters and starting the Nastran invoice using Patran
  • Workshops for linear statics (SOL101), Natural frequency analysis (SOL103) and linear buckling analysis (SOL105)
  • Extended introduction to linear statics included contact definition
  • Visualization of the results with Patran
