New Zealand Police improves productivity with mobile app
For better community policing and productivity, New Zealand Police selected Hexagon’s easy-to-use mobile application to extend dispatch capabilities, putting real-time incident data into the hands of officers via smart devices.
The challenge
With more than 11,000 staff and a nationwide jurisdiction of 268,021 square kilometers, New Zealand Police is the country’s largest law enforcement agency. Because of its mission scope and size, New Zealand Police wanted a mobile response solution that would extend its dispatch capabilities, increase workforce productivity, reduce radio traffic and put real-time incident data into the hands of officers via smartphones and tablets.
The solution
Already using Hexagon's industry-leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) solution, New Zealand Police selected Hexagon's Safety & Infrastructure division to develop and deploy a mobile response application that would increase data accuracy, improve officer efficiency and extend the capabilities of its CAD capabilities.
Powered by Hexagon's easy-to-use mobile application, New Zealand Police has mobilized 6,500 frontline officers. By extending critical CAD capabilities in the field, responders can gain situational awareness, share real-time information and request resources. This allows officers to reduce trips to the station and improves communications with dispatchers and other first responders.
Hexagon's solution was quick and easy to deploy, and required minimal training for officers. From a business perspective, the organization estimates savings of NZ$300 million over 12 years from productivity gains.
"Hexagon's solution has changed the way we communicate between our units and communications centre staff. It’s a more accurate and time-efficient process that reduces miscommunication and mistakes while saving costs."
