Nikken Sekkei: Architectural designs leveraging BIM

Nikken Sekkei focuses on BIM and environmental design with simulations through the CAS team in their Digital Design Project.

In January 2012, Nikken Sekkei, one of the leading institutional architect offices in Japan, organised the Digital Design Project, a new project for supporting Building Information Modeling (BIM). The company had supported BIM in the past, and the organisation of the new project was for gaining more momentum. One of the focal points in this effort is the BIM in terms of environmental/facility designing utilising simulations, which is carried out by the Computer Aided Simulation (CAS) team in the Digital Design Project. We interviewed Mr. Osamu Nagase, the leader of the CAS team from the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department, about this effort.
