Korea Institute of Energy Research: BIWT

Korea Institute of Energy Research uses Cradle CFD for fundamental research on Building-Integrated Wind Turbines (BIWT) in skyscrapers.

Researchers, led by the Korea Institute of Energy Research and CEDIC Ltd (ref 1), have done some fascinating fundamental research using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools from Hexagon’s Cradle CFD. They focused on the plausibility of Building-Integrated Wind Turbines (BIWT) in massive skyscrapers to produce electricity locally, and therefore lower carbon footprints.
