Expedite system design and validation without prototypes

The HxGN System Dynamics suite spans the development process, from "blank-sheet" 2D design through detailed subsystem optimization, to virtual product sign-off. It consists of best-in-class simulation tools Adams, Romax, Easy5 and Elements.

MultiBody dynamics

Use Adams, the industry’s most trusted multibody dynamics solution to develop real-life products from scratch. Improve engineering efficiency and reduce product development costs by enabling early system-level design validation. Evaluate and manage the complex interactions between disciplines including motion, structures, actuation, and controls to better optimize product designs for performance, safety, and comfort. Along with extensive analysis capabilities, its solver is optimized for large-scale problems, taking advantage of high-performance computing environments.

Part of the HxGN System Dynamics suite, Adams runs nonlinear dynamics in a fraction of the time required by FEA solutions. Loads and forces computed by these simulations improve the accuracy of FEA by providing better assessment of how they vary throughout a full range of motion and operating environments.

Combining the power of Adams with the breadth of Elements allows System Dynamics’ users to integrate mechanical components, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and control systems technologies to build and test virtual prototypes that accurately account for the interactions between these subsystems.

System integration

Elements’ multi-fidelity, multi-domain modelling and analysis capabilities enable rapid creation of models to evaluate design feasibility, facilitate validation, and accelerate product development. Its intuitive drag-and-drop libraries swiftly connect components from multiple domains, while its multi-physics coverage allows users to capture complex dynamics in a single model, to solve system-level problems arising from mechanical, electrical, thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic, and many other effects.

Pre-defined components and extensive libraries let users simulate the system without extensive CAE knowledge. You can model multiple domains in one place, understand a complex system’s functional behavior, and physical interactions during feasibility studies. A powerful symbolic modelling engine brings a high degree of accuracy and a tailored solver makes the method much faster than other available solutions.

Part of the System Dynamics suite, Elements combines with our other tools to enable engineers to model, test, and validate a range of products. Also, leverage this suite to validate ePowertrain performance, optimize battery life, cooling performance, efficiency, and overall control.

End-to-End Drivetrain Development

Romax embodies vast experience in end-to-end drivetrain development and offers a range of solutions tailored to various stages of the design cycle. Offering rapid and intuitive modelling, detailed structural analysis and component rating, our tools are the trusted solution for powertrain durability simulation and optimisation.

Combining advanced capabilities with interfaces to the rest of CAE eco-system, Romax enables a “Right First Time” CAE-led solution for drivetrain design. Our solutions also provide engineers with insight required to design and select bearings for optimum performance and durability, as part of a whole system model.

With dedicated tools for early stage design investigations, powertrain optimisation for durability, efficiency and NVH, together with component-specialist tools for electric machine structural design and analysis, and bearing evaluation, the Romax toolset drives innovative powertrain development across industries.

Real time experience

Adams captures high frequency response of the mechanical system, unlike reduced order model (ROM) solutions. This is important for accurately predicting the system response in forced vibration, ride analysis and tire-road interactions.

With Adams’ real time capabilities, you can use pre-existing MBD models directly in a real time set up (XiL) thus reducing model development time from several weeks to a few hours. The true parametric modelling approach enables engineers to tune mechanical system models on the spot (try out and test multiple design configurations in minutes).

Model multiple fidelities (rigid body, flexible bodies) in one place, prevent challenges around system integration and design uncertainties at a stage when you have undetermined layouts and no physical prototypes. Leverage these capabilities to design ADAS features and save on time and cost required to build prototypes.

Design for comfort and NVH

Hexagon offers a broad variety of simulation solutions for system-level NVH analysis and optimisation, from gear and electric machine design through to vehicle sound-quality assessment. With NVH being a key part of end-customer product perception, our System Dynamics tools empower engineers with insight into system-level NVH behaviour throughout the process, and ultimately enable them to bring higher-quality products to market more quickly.

With Romax, engineers can easily study vibration of electro-mechanical systems using frequency domain analysis. Simulating system vibration and radiated noise responses provides insight which can lead to creating better, quieter products. With Adams, users can tabulate the contribution of model elements to kinetic, static, and dissipative energy distribution in system modes. Model and simulate the ride quality of ground vehicles.
