Huntsville, Alabama, 10 February 2021
Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure and Geospatial divisions announced today Santa Catarina Water and Sanitation Company (CASAN), a Brazilian utility company supplying potable water and wastewater services to the state of Santa Catarina, has selected GeoMedia®, a powerful geographic information system (GIS), to manage and maintain more than 8,000 miles of infrastructure networks.
Deploying Hexagon’s solution will make network information more easily accessible, enabling CASAN to better serve over 2.6 million customers in more than 200 municipalities across the state. All technical, commercial and environmental data will be integrated and centralized into a single, intelligent GIS. Hardcopy network plans will also be fully digitized and made available within Hexagon’s M.App Enterprise, an easily configurable, unified enterprise platform that can be connected with different data sources to create geospatial apps.
The Hexagon technology will also enable CASAN to develop highly focused business workflows to track extensive amounts of information, from permits and records to inspection, maintenance and updates of a wide variety of infrastructure assets. CASAN managers and field workers will be able to access the information from anywhere through mobile devices. In addition, users can take advantage of interactive dashboards to better visualize and monitor operational and commercial real-time data, trend analysis, 2D and 3D geographic maps, reports and key indicators.
“This is an important milestone for CASAN as we are digitally transforming our business,” said Fábio Krieger, Operations and Expansion Director at CASAN. “We were looking for an effective GIS solution to dramatically improve our network operations management and maintenance, and we found all we need to achieve our goals with Hexagon.”
“We’re honored CASAN chose Hexagon solutions to support its strategic move toward digital transformation,” said Sergio Nunes, senior vice president of Latin America for Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure and Geospatial divisions. “With Hexagon’s GIS solutions, utility companies can break down information silos to minimize inefficiencies, errors and risks.”
Hexagon has pioneered the development and application of location-based systems for electric, communications, water and gas companies for decades.
