HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 30 January 2020
Swiss Air-Rescue Rega has successfully implemented Hexagon’s industry-leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. The highly integrated and comprehensive solution provides Rega’s command and control center staff with ideal capabilities for call-taking and incident management to support the more than 17,000 missions the agency completes each year.
By replacing Rega’s former end-of-life system, the new Hexagon solution modernizes the helicopter command and control center in terms of emergency call-handling, incident management, alerts, dispatch and post-incident analysis capabilities. Additionally, the integration with Rescuetrack, a leader in helicopter tracking software, equips the system with state-of-the-art geographic information system (GIS) and geodata management system features. The entire server infrastructure has also been outsourced to a hosting partner, making Rega a pioneer in Swiss public safety.
“Supporting Rega is a true honor,” said Nick Chorley, director EMEA public safety and security for Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division. “When we built our CAD solution, the goal was to make it easier for organizations like Rega to do lifesaving work. Our advanced system supports their workflows, requires little maintenance and will help decrease the time it takes responders to get to major traffic accidents or out to the ski slopes.”
The modern solution enables Rega’s command and control center supervisors and officers to run an integrated system with operational- and information-specific elements. It includes powerful, modern technologies to fulfil the storage and processing requirements of large amounts of data. By leveraging Hexagon’s application integration platform, the CAD system connects to peripheral systems, providing incident managers with consistent functionalities.
