HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 20 May 2020
Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main mbH - VGF, Frankfurt Transportation Authority, the main public transport operator in Frankfurt, Germany, has selected Hexagon’s industry-leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and mobile solutions to strengthen its safety and security infrastructure. The new solutions will enable dispatchers to identify and respond to threats faster, enabling better protection for the operator’s 200 million passengers served each year.
Since 2006, Frankfurt Transportation Authority has maintained a command and control center with video surveillance. Hexagon’s solutions will support the center’s public safety efforts by delivering modern capabilities that improve efficiency, lower costs, enhance user operation and help deploy forces via a mobile app or phone to rapidly and efficiently mitigate any incidents.
“Hexagon has a long history of supporting public safety and security organizations with end-to-end solutions,” said Nick Chorley, director of EMEA public safety and security for Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division. “By deploying Hexagon’s dispatch and mobile solutions, Frankfurt Transportation Authority will take its operational support and security forces to the next level.”
In addition to the new command and control center solution, the project will include integrating more than 300 high-end IP cameras and connecting the SOS pillars of the subway and tramway stations. Passengers will be able to use the pillars to report an emergency or to talk to a dispatcher for general information. The video surveillance infrastructure will enhance public safety, support criminal investigations and help dispatchers better assess a situation in the event of an emergency call.
“Hexagon’s solutions will enable our team to quickly dispatch security officers, ensuring the safety of millions of passengers each year,” said Felix Müller, project manager, Frankfurt Transportation Authority.
Subcontractor of Hexagon on the project will be vi2vi GmbH, a German security video solution supplier with a proven track record of successful complex video integration projects.
