Hexagon Announces Availability of BricsCAD® Platinum with Release of CADWorx® 2019
14 March 2019
Hexagon PPM, the leading global provider of engineering software for the design, construction and operation of plants, ships and offshore facilities, announces the release of CADWorx® 2019 SP1 bundles.
CADWorx Plant Professional, CADWorx P&ID Professional and CADWorx Structure Professional run on either Hexagon’s recently acquired BricsCAD® platform or AutoCAD®. With this release, users purchasing CADWorx get additional value as the bundle also includes a CAD platform in the form of BricsCAD Platinum. Existing maintenance customers also will receive this software as an addition to existing CADWorx maintenance contracts.
Bricsys was acquired by Hexagon in October 2018. Bricsys’ CAD platform, BricsCAD, is a powerful .dwg-based CAD application offering familiar commands and user interface elements. BricsCAD Platinum adds advanced rendering, 2D/3D constraint-based modeling of parts and assemblies, and automated parameterization of solids, providing designers and engineers powerful access to the huge potential of vertical CAD applications created by thousands of third-party developers. Bricsys also offers its own time-saving, artificial intelligence-driven add-ons – from conceptual modeling to seamless BIM workflows and cloud connectivity.
“Building on top of our commitment to provide powerful and adaptive tools for creation of fully intelligent 3D plant models, the addition of BricsCAD Platinum provides CADWorx users a CAD platform that goes beyond traditional CAD platform functionality and enables them to complete projects more efficiently. The new bundles parlay the capabilities of CADWorx users to levels previously unheard-of at a modest price point,” said Keith Denton, Senior Vice President of Business Development, CADWorx & Analysis Solutions. “While we are excited about the enhanced capabilities provided by BricsCAD Platinum, we are well aware of the need of many of our users to continue using AutoCAD as their preferred CAD platform, and we will continue to support that choice.”
The CADWorx Professional bundles cover all key aspects of plant project execution supporting the user through the complete project execution lifecycle. Spec-driven 3D modeling, production drawings and deliverables for plant industry structures, equipment, piping, P&IDs, and 3D visualization is possible through CADWorx and multiple other CAD formats. The addition of BricsCAD Platinum extends native mechanical solids modeling in the .dwg environment and import of external MCAD file formats into the CADWorx model. If desired, users can upgrade their BricsCAD Platinum license to full BricsCAD Mechanical and gain powerful sheet metal modeling. An upgrade to BricsCAD BIM adds the most modern, powerful BIM capability in the industry today.
