Intergraph® Agrees to Acquire EcoSys, Provider of Best-in-Class Enterprise Project Controls Software
10 September 2015
The strategic acquisition of EcoSys will broaden Intergraph Process, Power & Marine’s leadership position as a Project Enterprise solution provider by adding project controls to its existing enterprise portfolio. EcoSys’ flagship software solution, EcoSys EPC (Enterprise Planning & Controls), has been widely adopted by the project controls industry, both in PPM (Process, Power & Marine) and AEC (Architectural, Engineering & Construction) markets. A web-based platform introduced in 2006, it provides the deepest capabilities to support the complete spectrum of solutions within the Project Controls discipline – from project portfolio management and capital program management, through budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting. It bridges the gap that has traditionally existed between planning and managing project execution. EcoSys sells its software for on-premise use, as a hosted solution, and as a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.
Inc. magazine recently ranked EcoSys on its 34th annual Inc. 5000 List, a prestigious ranking of U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent companies. EcoSys’ revenue increased 222 percent during the three-year span evaluated by Inc. magazine.
EcoSys, which has approximately 100 employees in the United States, will continue as a standalone operation under its current management team, which is comprised of software veterans with hands-on experience designing and implementing world-class commercial enterprise software currently used by thousands of global organizations. EcoSys is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, a Denver suburb, with a research and development facility in New York City, an office in Houston, and sales support locations in London and Sydney.
Founded in 2000 by the original developers of Primavera’s enterprise project management system (now known as P6), EcoSys has implemented enterprise solutions for over 250 leading organizations in the public and private sectors for a range of industries including energy and utilities, oil, gas and chemicals, engineering and construction, transportation, information technology and government contracting.
Its customers include Alstom, Air Products, American Electric Power, Bechtel, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Marathon Petroleum, Suncor and Technip among others, across a wide range of industries.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “The acquisition of EcoSys will allow us to offer another next-generation solution and technical expertise to deliver even greater productivity and value for our current and futurecustomers worldwide. EcoSys technology will be strategic for our expanded offering to the AEC/BIM markets to improve project execution. This acquisition, which will be the third of 2015, is another example of Intergraph’s commitment to expand and broaden our software solutions portfolio and invest in the future.”
“We at EcoSys are very excited to be joining an industry leader like Intergraph and becoming part of the Hexagon family,” said Javier Sloninsky, co-founder and CEO of EcoSys. “With such a powerful combination of technologies, we can help our customers improve project performance and productivity like never before. EcoSys EPC, our project controls software platform, is an ideal fit and this acquisition will create significantly more growth opportunities by allowing our company to leverage Intergraph’s technology portfolio, channel infrastructure and global customer contacts.”
EcoSys was advised in the transaction by Aeris Partners, a leading information technology M&A advisory firm.
