Companhia de Electricidade de Macau Partners with Hexagon for Integrated Outage Management Solution
Needing to improve its outage response and restoration times, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau deployed an outage management system to streamline operations, enhance communications with internal and external stakeholders, and increased network reliability and resiliency.
The Challenge
Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) is a private utility company and exclusive concessionaire responsible for generating, importing and exporting, transmitting, distributing, and selling electricity in Macau, a special administrative region in China.
Like many utility providers, it is critical for CEM to obtain timely information to quickly respond to utility outages. However, CEM's previous operations system could not keep up with high voltage and medium voltage outages, leaving the company with a time-consuming, manual process for restoring service. CEM needed an integrated solution to improve its outage response and restoration times.
The Solution
CEM selected an outage management system and mobile workforce management solution from Hexagon's Safety & Infrastructure division.
A cost-effective, enterprise solution, Hexagon's technology provides CEM with map-based, real-time analysis of its network’s usage and availability. Operators are able to quickly dispatch field crews – as well as public emergency services – to exact outage locations to reduce restoration time and safety. The solution also provides an identical operating map for field crews to optimize coordination and visual confirmation during service restoration.
To meet CEM’s 24/7 availability and performance requirements, the system uses an architecture scheme that replicates data for use and distribution within the product to support multiple sites. Hexagon’s integrated tools have streamlined operations, improved data transparency and communications with internal and external stakeholders, and increased network reliability and resiliency.
