Hexagon to showcase future of autonomy and perception technology at Agritechnica
Hexagon is putting the spotlight on the future of agricultural autonomy at Agritechnica this year, with an exclusive European preview of its next-generation perception technology.
Under the theme ‘Empowering an Autonomous Future’, the global leader in measurements technology will be showcasing its latest innovations in machine control, positioning and autonomy for agriculture at Halle 21 | J03.
Perception is a breakthrough solution utilising AI-powered camera systems that will enable OEMs, robotics companies and start-ups to accelerate the development of autonomous and semi-autonomous agricultural machines.
It provides the vision, accuracy and reliability required for safe and efficient operations in the field.
“We’re excited to be at Agritechnica to meet with the innovators who share our vision for the future of farming,” said Bernardo de Castro, VP of agriculture strategy at Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division.
“Our goal is to equip OEMs and ag-tech developers with the tools they need to accelerate autonomy. From high-precision positioning systems to advanced perception capabilities, we are helping to redefine how machines sense and interact with their environment.”
Alongside the new perception platform, Hexagon will also be demonstrating its comprehensive portfolio of positioning, autonomy and machine control solutions, giving visitors the chance to explore the three core foundations of agricultural autonomy and how the company’s technology is helping equipment manufacturers bring smarter, more productive and more sustainable agricultural machinery to market.
The booth is designed to tell this story: “Where am I?”, representing precise positioning; “What’s around me?”, showcasing advanced perception systems that understand the environment; and “How do I get there safely?”, highlighting the control technologies that ensure efficient and reliable machine operations in the field.
Together, these solutions enable equipment manufacturers, robotics and drone companies to accelerate their journey toward autonomy, addressing the most pressing challenges in agriculture today and in the future.
This approach is exemplified by technologies such as the ultra-compact and low power consumption mosaic-G5 GNSS module from Septentrio (part of Hexagon). Its design enables reliable, high-accuracy positioning without compromises in performance for commercial UAVs, small robots, and many other size and power-constrained industrial high-volume applications. The high-performance GNSS technology provides enhanced positioning availability even in challenging environments where GNSS signals are degraded or obstructed.
In addition, Hexagon will showcase the NovAtel SMART2, an entry level dual-frequency GNSS SMART antenna for flexible and scalable positioning that supports PPP and RTK corrections. Built for performance and flexibility, SMART2 is supported by Hexagon’s proven in-field reliability and its trusted partnership approach with OEMs.
Bernardo de Castro added “Agritechnica is one of the biggest global agricultural machinery events, attracting leading manufacturers and the world’s most innovative agricultural start-ups,” he said.
“Our pioneering technology forms the foundations of what these companies are doing currently, and our new perception technology will help them take their innovations to the next level” he said.
