Wardrobe guidelines for on-camera speakers
We are delighted that you are scheduled to speak at HxGN LIVE Global 2023!
There are numerous considerations that go into an on-camera video production, and wardrobe selection can be straightforward if certain guidelines are followed. Certain patterns, colours and shapes ‘perform’ better than others, and we want to make sure that you look your best when presenting to an audience in front of a camera.
Please consider the following:
- Business casual attire
- Suit and jackets are acceptable; ties are optional
- Refrain from wearing fabrics that wrinkle easily
- Keep jewelry to a minimum, avoiding large, noisy or reflective pieces
- Natural makeup - avoid dark and/or glossy shades
- Please be aware of how your attire sits when in seated and standing positions
- Please avoid:
- Plain white because on camera it exposes in high contrast to other elements on the screen
- Black and dark tones
- Deeply saturated colours like oranges, yellows, red and pink
- Glossy or metallic fabrics that may reflect and appear distracting on camera
- Fabrics with tight patterns like stripes, herringbone and houndstooth
- We recommend:
- Opting for pastels and pale (gray or light blue) tones, if possible, as these tend to photograph well on video camera. (For example, a light blue shirt with a light gray jacket.)
- Medium-earth tone colors like muted greens / blues and browns
We are looking forward to the event and appreciate your time and talent – thank you!
