Technology Impact: Xalt empowers EdgeConnect technology that supports Leica Geosystems monitoring solution by providing a secure connection between the field components consisting of monitoring sensors and M-Com devices, and the Leica GeoMoS monitoring software.
Result: An autonomous monitoring solution developed through an easy and quick installation of the monitoring system and secure data transfer between the field and the office.
Leica GeoMoS software suite comes with the Leica GeoMoS Edge, a monitoring software for autonomous sensor control and uninterrupted data logging in the field. GeoMoS Edge allows for measurements to be continuously taken and temporarily stored even when there is no communication to the office available – ultimately preventing data loss. It is embedded on the Leica ComBox60 and the Leica ComGate20, plug-and-play solutions for monitoring communication.
Xalt is Hexagon’s technology platform that enables Hexagon’s solutions to work seamlessly together, leveraging all relevant data and delivering mission critical intelligence at scale.
EdgeConnect technology, powered by Xalt, is a cloud service that simplifies this process while retaining the required security levels. Integrated into Leica GeoMoS Edge, it enables secure cloud IoT connectivity between the field and the office. EdgeConnect’s clever pairing procedure between GeoMoS Monitor and the Leica M-Com communication devices utilises a standard, open HTTPS port and enables setup without additional IT modifications. Once paired, GeoMoS Monitor takes ownership of the device, making hijacking or stealing data impossible. The user has full control of the device and can move it from one project to another. EdgeConnect removes the IT complexity from the monitoring installation equation, reduces costs and significantly shortens the time until the monitoring can start.
Leica Nova TM60 completes the perfect GeoMoS monitoring combination of sensors, communication and software. It is designed to support monitoring service providers, seeking to minimise risks of downtime and running a monitoring system 24/7.
