Hexagon Digital Reality integrates NVIDIA Omniverse to enhance workflows in the cloud
(Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 16 June 2025) Hexagon’s Geosystems division today announced a milestone in its collaboration with NVIDIA. The Hexagon Digital Reality (HxDR) business unit is integrating NVIDIA Omniverse and adopting OpenUSD to enable faster, more accessible creation of immersive, photorealistic digital twins from scanned data in the cloud.
This integration accelerates the conversion of point cloud data into high-quality visualisations, reducing the reliance on specialised resources such as digital artistry or high-end desktop software. Running natively in the cloud, the new workflow allows users to produce detailed, photorealistic renderings in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods. This dramatically improves speed to rendering, allowing professionals to move from raw scan data to final output with greater efficiency.
Powered by high-performance NVIDIA accelerated computing in the cloud, this approach removes the need for costly local infrastructure only accessible to experts. Any HxDR user can generate stunning visual results from standard laptops without sacrificing quality or being limited by hardware.
This integration also strengthens digital twin workflows by delivering near real-time visual context from captured reality, helping teams make faster, more informed decisions across design, construction, and asset management.
“The benefits of digital twins are clear, but barriers to adoption remain high for many AECO stakeholders. Our integration with NVIDIA Omniverse lowers that threshold, making photorealistic mesh rendering more accessible,” says Eric McSherry, Vice President of Platforms and Solutions, HxDR, at Hexagon’s Geosystems division. “This integration means streamlined workflows for our customers and an important step towards making digital twin technology a standard, accessible tool for collaboration and innovation.”
This breakthrough further supports Hexagon’s vision of democratising digital reality, empowering teams across AEC, surveying, oil and gas/process manufacturing, discrete manufacturing, and more industries to collaborate and create at scale.
The beta release is coming soon, with early access available to selected Hexagon Digital Reality users.
