LAS VEGAS, 22 June 2022
Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division and RapidSOS today reaffirmed their long-standing partnership by announcing the integration of RapidSOS Emergency Data Exchange (EDX) with HxGN Connect, Hexagon’s real-time incident center (RTIC) as a service. The news was shared at HxGN LIVE Global 2022, Hexagon’s digital technology conference.
RapidSOS’ EDX enables emergency communication centers (ECC), real-time information centers (RTICs) and other critical response organizations to perform secure multi-agency communication by providing the ability to view incident data and coordinate resources for multi-agency response. HxGN Connect provides a SaaS workspace and unified view of information within and between different entities across a city or region, enabling participants to actively collaborate, securely share data and coordinate actions as events unfold. Integrating the two technologies will enable the propagation of life-saving data between public safety, transportation, government, utilities and other diverse organizations, providing new levels of situational awareness for seamless coordination of emergency response.
Hexagon also announced significant enhancements to the existing RapidSOS integration in its industry-leading computer-aided dispatch (CAD) solutions, making it easier for dispatchers to access life-saving data quicker. Later this year, Hexagon’s RapidSOS Ready public safety solutions will enable easier access to emergency data available within the RapidSOS Platform. The improvements will include automatic caller location update alerts, one-click data copy and the ability to view emergency event data, caller health/medical information and connected mobility data on a map. The new features will greatly improve call-takers’ ability to identify the location of callers and events, leading to faster response times and incident resolution.
“Emergency events don’t stop at jurisdictional boundaries, yet a vast majority of today’s public safety applications - those within the ECCs and in the hands of first responders - suffer from a lack of interoperability,” said Ed Parkinson, President, RapidSOS Public Sector. “We’re thrilled to partner with Hexagon to help solve this challenge by delivering life-saving data to HxGN Connect, enabling users of the application to receive incident data from disparate CAD, call handling and emergency management applications.”
“Cities and regions are facing new, unpredictable demands, and they need better information and capabilities to meet the growing needs of residents and visitors,” said Kalyn Sims, CTO, Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division. “Leveraging the information available from RapidSOS with the IoT integration, data sharing and collaboration capabilities of Hexagon’s solutions will bring unprecedented capabilities to emergency response operations.”
A global leader in public safety, Hexagon’s solutions help to protect nearly a billion people worldwide. The RapidSOS Platform powers over 5,200 ECCs across the world, covering more than 95% of the U.S. population, and is integrated with over 400 million connected devices.
