Radio remote control for heavy mining machinery

Hexagon Radio Remote Controller (RRC) is a robust remote-control solution designed for efficient and safe heavy equipment operation. By combining precise electronic machine control with intuitive wireless operation, this system allows operators to manage machinery from a safe distance, even in challenging environments.

The solution integrates Drive-by-Wire technology, which uses electronic systems to replicate traditional mechanical vehicle functions, such as throttle, brakes, steering, and transmission. It serves as the foundation for remote operation and has been installed on more than 3,000 machines across 200+ models globally.

RRC enables wireless machine control from up to 1,000 ft outdoors or 300 ft underground. RRC allows operators to safely control the machine while maintaining direct visual contact with it, providing a clear line-of-sight for enhanced operational awareness.

As an optional add-on, FarSight comprises a portable camera system that enhances visibility by providing live video feedback around corners or into obstructed zones.

Wireless operation

Radio-frequency remote control enables safe machine handling from up to 1,000 feet outdoors or 300 feet underground, removing operators from hazardous zones, improving safety and comfort. RRC’s unique link ID prevents the operator from controlling the wrong machine.

Proven and reliable Drive-by-Wire backbone

RRC’s electric control system is used on thousands of machines worldwide. Brand agnostic, it works with all machine makes and models. Custom integration enables tailored configurations for specific applications and machine types.

RRC is tried and tested in the field

Commonly used on LHDs, drills, excavators, dozers, rockbreakers, and more, RRC is built to withstand harsh mining and industrial environments. It’s ideal for applications requiring flexibility and visual range without a full remote station.

RRC system for machine retrieval

Mining equipment is built to extract ore, not to extract mining equipment. We examine the benefits of using RRC on a machine retrieval device through an extraction service, reducing downtime while improving safety.
