Boston Police Deploy Intergraph Records Management System

29 June 2015

Boston Police Department has deployed an enterprise information management system from Intergraph for all police report and crime data. The new system, featuring Intergraph's inPURSUIT software, went live recently following a major, four-year project to plan, stage, configure and deploy the department's first enterprise records management system.

The Intergraph solution replaces a 40-year-old, home-grown documentation system, providing police with an integrated, state-of-the-art technology for case management and reporting. Among the important capabilities enabled by the new inPURSUIT RMS system are master indices that tie individuals to multiple types of information, such as cases and addresses, providing police with more complete information regarding individuals under criminal investigation.

"The Intergraph system will allow us to be more efficient and ultimately will enhance the safety of the community and of our officers," said Boston Police Deputy Superintendent John Daley. "Officers and investigators will have access to information in the new system that, previously, they may have had to seek in a dozen legacy systems, if it existed at all."

The detective case management module developed by Intergraph enables officers in the field to add specific, eyes-only investigative information to reports. Detectives have the ability to lock down information based on case sensitivity, such as for cases involving sexual assaults.

The integrated solution also includes Intergraph's inPURSUIT Field Based Reporting (FBR), which allows officers to more efficiently capture report information and notes through an easy-to-use field application. The Intergraph software eliminates the need for pen-and-paper note taking and redundant data entry.

"In deploying Intergraph's records management system, Boston Police can benefit from a fully integrated, user-friendly system to manage mission-critical records and data," said David McDonald, vice president of U.S. public safety, Intergraph Security, Government and Infrastructure (SG&I). "We're honored to partner with the City ofBoston to help improve public safety through innovation."

The City of Boston also deployed Intergraph's incident management solution last year. Built upon Intergraph's industry-leading computer-aided dispatch, I/CAD, and Mobile for Public Safety software, the solution serves the city's police, fire and emergency medical services departments. The global leader in public safety, Intergraph's integrated dispatching, records management, business intelligence, mobile and other solutions help protect one in 12 people worldwide.
