Haike Finch-Schattka was compelled to learn more about Hexagon after reading about the restoration of the Notre Dame cathedral. The destruction caused by a catastrophic fire devastated parts of this historical relic and yet, thanks to the digital twin scanned prior to the fire by Hexagon’s Leica scanners, restoration was already underway.
“I knew that Hexagon’s technology had scanned every detail of the historic cathedral for research purposes,” said Finch-Schattka. “When the fire happened, Hexagon already had the first perfect model to plan the restoration. It was a very cool story, and I was intrigued by the opportunity to join a company on the cutting-edge of technological development.”
Her first challenge in her role at Hexagon was editing an article about bathymetric measuring of ocean beds. “I didn’t know anything about it. But I quickly found we have great, knowledgeable people here who could explain everything I needed to know.”
Since April 2021, her work hasn’t slowed down. As the Communications Manager of Global Marketing for Hexagon’s Geosystems division, Finch-Schattka has driven communications for high-profile projects like the seagrass sustainability initiative in The Bahamas by Hexagon’s R-evolution. “I really felt like we were making a difference and helping people understand the importance of the seagrass fields for climate change mitigation.”
Finch-Schattka says if there’s one thing people should know about working at Hexagon, it’s how motivating it is to work with people who are passionate about what they do. “Whether that’s heavy construction, digital solutions for buildings, surveying or airborne mapping, working for a company that is innovative and inspires pride in its employees really makes a difference. If you know your company is among the best, and you’re working with people who care about what they do, it makes a huge difference.”
