Changjiang Spatial Information Technology Engineering

Using technology from Leica Geosystems, Changjiang Spatial Information Technology Engineering is completing work on major projects in Asia involving the Yellow River and Nuozhadu Dam. Leica Geosystems’ 3D imaging technology is being used to help identify dangerous parts of the tunnel under the Yellow River resulting from deformations caused by seasonal changes. Continuous monitoring of the problem areas allows the tunnel to be navigated with fewer safety issues.

As the largest hydropower station in Yunnan province, Nuozhadu Dam is used for power generation, as well as flood control and irrigation services, which help aquaculture and tourism. As with the Yellow River, safety issues are involved in navigating the dam. Leica Geosystems’ high-precision total station, digital level and sensors are providing automatic monitoring of the dam to detect potential dangerous conditions.
