HUNTSVILLE, Alabama, November 19, 2016

Uttar Pradesh Police, the largest police force in India, has opened its state-wide, centralized “Dial 100” Emergency Operation Center in the provincial capital, Lucknow. It houses India’s largest police emergency response system, which is equipped with Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure’s industry-leading Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch (I/CAD) software.

Hexagon’s integrated suite of public safety solutions will enhance incident management and agency-wide reporting in India’s most populous state, serving 220 million people across 75 districts. Relying on Hexagon’s advanced call-handling and dispatching capabilities, the new 24/7 operation center will have up to 250 call takers and 150 dispatchers to manage 200,000 estimated calls per day via its emergency hotline services – landline, VoIP, SMS, email, social media and mobile application. Citizens can upload pictures, texts and videos in English and their local dialects, which can be tagged to recorded calls. Information is shared with frontline police via mobile applications. A key highlight is thedeployment of 200 female communication officers to ensure quick response to women in need of assistance.

S. Javeed Ahmad, director general of police, Uttar Pradesh Police, said, “A leader like Hexagon has participated in this project, lending its technology and expertise to customise such an extensive and robust computer-aided dispatch system. I’m extremely positive and optimistic that this will change the way police respond to the people in Uttar Pradesh.”

Replacing legacy and fragmented systems, Hexagon’s innovative and integrated software suite will expand Uttar Pradesh Police’s incident response capabilities, leading to enhanced efficiency for the 250,000 -personpolice force. Police expect the system to reduce response times to 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural spots. Hexagon’s partner, Mahindra Defence Systems Limited, implemented the technology in the “Dial 100”Emergency Operation Center.

“We are proud to be a key partner in building a world-class command and control center for Uttar Pradesh Police,” said Jerry Su, vice president of global strategy, Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure. “We are confident that Hexagon’s technology will help Uttar Pradesh Police achieve its current and future goals, improving emergency services for its citizens.”
