How does one go from majoring in English and Spanish to working at Hexagon, a global technology company? It’s not as winding a path as you might think. For Jasmine Fleming, the opportunity to tell stories and show the world the importance of what Hexagon does is a perfect fit with her passion and skill set for writing.
“I think it's much more important to be purpose-driven than process-driven,” she said. “I think that's what we are here at Hexagon.”
Working with customers and partners on a daily basis is something that Fleming really enjoys. To see Hexagon technology as a force for good in the world reinforces that purpose-driven culture.
“At the end of the day, it’s one thing to work with cool technology, but it’s another to be able to see the value that it's providing to real people's lives and to be able to tell those stories,” she said. It’s one thing to work with cool technology, but it’s another to be able to see the value that it's providing to real people's lives and to be able to tell those stories.
One example is a solution that detects the health of roads and other infrastructure. For example, if there is a pothole in the street, being able to detect the integrity of the landscape around it helps city and utility managers decide when a pothole might turn into a sinkhole, or even worse, be the foundation for a road collapse. With the ability to capture and apply data for any type of environment, Hexagon customers are doing things as simple as being more efficient in maintenance to saving people’s lives.
In addition to her pride in the work itself, Fleming said that the day-to-day experience with her team makes her look forward to each day.
“One of the things that I love the most is that we’re definitely a culture of lifelong learners,” she said.
